They had been interested in reuniting on a film for years, and felt they had finally found the ideal project.

"When the story begins, Maggie and Ike do not get off on the right foot at all." "They're always arguing and there's always a kind of fireworks and dynamic between them that you want to watch. Julia and Richard both bring to the scenes a delightfulness and bantering...and charm. You can't teach charm - it's either there or it's not there, and both actors bring a lot of it to this film."

Anna Scott (Julia Roberts) is the world’s most famous movie star. Her picture has been plastered on the cover of every magazine, and every time she makes a move, the entire world knows about it. Garry Marshall concludes, "This film has a lot of laughs, both verbal and physical, and a lot of romance. I hope audiences will come away with the feeling that you don't have to put on an act to find love, but to be true to yourself. Everybody deserves to be loved for the unique person they are."

"Mystic Pizza" is the film that served notice that Julia Roberts, as "Daisy", was destined to be a famous actress. |
The biggest surprise about Julia Roberts is her razor-sharp sense of humor. It'll leave you laughing or gasping--or both. Sure, the pouty-lipped Pretty Woman loves to play, but her repartee reminds you she's one smart southern woman.
Julia Roberts was in fine form. Walking the red carpet for the L.A. premiere of America's Sweethearts last month, she was radiant in a sheer gold top, strappy sandals, a flirtatious toe ring -- and the kind of wide-screen grin only the woman TIME declared America's Best Movie Star can muster.

Right now, the 33-year-old actress is on cloud nine, and who could blame her? After scoring back-to-back hits with Notting Hill and Runaway Bride, and winning an Oscar in 2001 for an outstanding female performance in a leading role "Erin Brockovich."
"She has a special luminosity," says designer Giorgio Armani, who has dressed her for many occasions. "She's one of the true screen icons of this century." It's been a long journey from ingenue to icon. "She used to be like a deer caught in the headlights," says Garry Marshall, who directed Roberts in Pretty Woman and Runaway Bride. "Now she handles the pressure. She's matured and is a lot stronger."
Some see "My Best Friends Wedding," as a comeback for Roberts. Actually, she hasn't been away, merely engaged in films of failed ambition (Mary Reilly, Michael Collins) that didn't please those who missed the flowing locks and milewide smile that made her a babe icon after 1990's Pretty Woman. Hair and teeth are in ample evidence here, but she doesn't strike poses. Nearing 30, she is riper, more dexterous with a comic line, slyer with modulation. Roberts puts her heart into this one. Audiences are likely to return the favor.
